Nothing big happening today. Wow, is it true? You may well ask, as I seem to have new things to throw your way almost every day at the moment. But there's a lull. I guess there is a limit to how much any one fitness expert can manage to write and put together :)

I know I did a leg workout on Tuesday though - sore hamstrings, feel the quads a little, and even my calves! Why the surprise? Simply because I have never done an entire legs workout at home before. No leg press machine, no calf machine at all, just free weights ... I mean, come on! How do you get a good leg workout in those conditions?

Well, how about doing front squats (because I can't get under the bar to do regular ones!), stiff legged dead lifts, and calf raises with Dumbbells!? It works! Standing calf raises with the Db on one shoulder at a time (have to hold on to something with the other hand) and seated calf raises with the two Dbs on the knees ... belive you me, it works :) I'm just going a bit heavier next week that's all, as I did max reps this week with the poundage I used.

The worst problem is in fact the squats. I can't go as heavy with the front squats as I can with the regular ones, and it ends up being too light for the quads to really get hit properly. Maybe if I cradle the Barbell on a towel to relieve the arms a little ... that's the plan for next week, and I'll let you know. I know there is a thing called a Manta Ray (why manta ray?) you can use to help with squats, but I'll try the towel idea first.
